Purpose # To draft a purchase agreement between ILRI and Chick Masters Inc.

Meetings On 27 October 2015 at Chick Masters Inc in Mukono, Uganda
* Jasmine travelled to Mukono, Uganda to meet with Dr. Kaaya at Chick Masters Inc. headquarters. The meeting clarified the partnership relationship between ILRI and Chick Masters Inc. Jasmine and Dr. Kaaya agreed on the need for a Purchase Agreement and discussed a number of articles to be included in the purchase agreement. Jasmine and Dr. Kaaya discussed the pricing mechanism, clarifying that the eggs should travel on Ethiopia airlines, that all costs upon arrival into the port of entry would be included in the cost of the egg, and that the cost of all biosecurity protocols until the port of entry in the destination country would also be included in the cost per egg. Shipping and packing methods were finalized, and the next steps in section 15 were agreed upon. Dr. Kaaya and ACGG still need to finalize the negotiation of the percent of payment received upfront. This decision is pending.

§ 11:30- 11:50am-Lindiwe Majele Sibanda, FANRPAN introduce the launch of the improving nutrition outcomes through optimized Agricultural investment projects including the objectives and outcomes of the project. Following her introduction, prof. Simbarashe Sibanda presented what agriculture to nutrition (ATONU) project brings and status to date;
§ 11:50 – 12:00am-Shelly Sundberg, from Bill & Melinda Gates foundation has presented about the demand and need for an agriculture to nutrition initiative;
§ 12:00 – 12:15am-Catherine Bertini, from the Chicago Council on global affairs has presented about the issues of healthy food for a healthy world: leveraging agriculture and food to improve global nutrition;
§ 12:15 – 12:25am-Isatou Jallow, Senior nutrition and partnership advisor-Head, food security and nutrition program, NEPAD presented about the need for agriculture and food security initiatives to deliver nutrition outcomes
§ 12:40 – 12:45 am-Introduction of the African champion for nutrition: His majesty King Letsie III, Kingdom of Lesotho by Hon. Argent Chuula, chair, FANRPAN Board
§ 12:45 – 13:00-Endorsement by the African Champion for nutrition by His majesty king Letsie III, kingdom of Lesotho
§ 13:00 Discussion questions and answers and closing by Lindiwe Majele Sibanda;

* The nutrition sensitive intervention design workshop (Framework 3) was held alongside the ATONU reflection meeting and launch from the 29th to the 30th of October. A joint DIMELT (Design, Intervention, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Tools)/POCTA group presented a desk study for the two Tanzania projects: The NAFAKA staples Value chain Activity initiatives hosted by the ACDI/VOCA; and the sesame value chain project hosted by FARM AFRICA.
* This meeting for the Ethiopian team was for experience sharing regarding the desk study and identification of the possible nutrition sensitive interventions in regards to design and pathways, activities, implementation process, responsibilities and timelines in alignment with the below framework:

Intervention Target and Design ATONU and ACGG Dec 22nd, 2015
Identified funding opportunities # High potential funding opportunity for linking nutrition with the work of ACGG through ATONU. ATONU will come to Addis in December 2015 to identify nutrition opportunities in ACGG. Pilot project proposals will be built-out around the identified gaps.
Identified Human resource opportunities # Chick Master Inc. has the potential to be a high opportunity private sector partner for ACGG. Chick Master will supply Kuroiler to ACGG, and may potentially be a critical link in ACGG’s goal of nurturing public private partnerships in the smallholder poultry value chain.
# ATONU consortium members will be completing a desk study for ACGG Ethiopia, and ATONU staff will support the ACGG team in identifying nutrition gaps and intervention areas in ACGG Ethiopia. ATONU staff will collaborate with ILRI staff in pilot design and proposal drafting, and if funded, ATONU will contribute both human resources and financial support to the integration of nutrition work into ACGG.
